This month the helpline hosted a stand at the Swanley ‘Let’s talk about dementia’ event. The event was all about ‘living well with dementia’ and making sure people knew about local support available.
Who we have helped?
In the last 4 weeks we have taken calls from –
- A wife whose husband’s respite placement had turned into permanent care. She felt both upset and guilty and wanted to talk.
- A husband who was stressed as his wife kept repeating herself and telling him he was not her husband.
Who is it for?
The helpline is for anyone who is affected by dementia – individuals, family, friends, and professionals – in fact anyone who has questions or concerns and would like to have someone to talk too.
What do we do?
We offer information and support, we listen, we source and signpost to relevant local services, all in total confidence. Calls from a landline are free, calls from mobiles may be charged.
9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday callers receive a personalised service, tailored just for them, with call back or return e-mail. Outside office hour’s callers receive anonymous emotional listening support only.
